Does an Electric Furnace Need Annual Maintenance?

Electric furnaces are not as common as natural gas furnaces in local homes, but that doesn’t mean that electric furnaces don’t come with some excellent advantages. Although gas furnaces generally cost less to run and have higher heating capacity, electric furnaces cost less to install upfront, last for around five years longer, run into fewer repair issues, and don’t present any hazards due to gas combustion or toxic exhausts.

The secret to the electric furnace’s longevity and resistance to repairs is that it doesn’t burn gas to work. In a gas furnace, the constant stress of powerful burners and the reaction of combustion gas with other components is what leads to the system declining. Electric furnaces have a more direct and simple method of heating.

Because of the difference between the two furnace types, people often think that electric furnaces don’t need frequent maintenance. At least not every year. But this is wrong! Any home heating system, regardless of its type, benefits from pre-season maintenance done each year.

Air quality in homes has become more important to people than ever. You’ve probably wondered if your air quality is as good as it could be, and what to do if it’s not.

We have a bit of bad news: it’s likely that your home’s indoor air quality is poor. This isn’t because you’ve done something wrong. Modern homes don’t allow for much fresh air circulation, allowing numerous contaminants to build up indoors without an easy escape. The number of sources for indoor contaminants has also increased, leading to more volatile organic compounds (VOCs) floating around the air than ever before.

But we have good news as well: we offer the indoor air quality services in New Braunfels, TX that can significantly improve your home’s IAQ, and the fall is a great time to get started with them. That way you’ll be ready for the colder days of winter when your house will be sealed off more to the outside.

Let’s look at how we can help you and your family to enjoy healthier, more pleasant household air.

Thayer Air Conditioning has established the Thayer Helping Hands Program to assist local non-profits and families in need of HVAC services. It is our desire to extend a “Helping Hand” to those in need of HVAC services but who cannot afford it due to economic hardship.

We would like to take this opportunity to share the Thayer Helping Hands Program with our community and friends. If you are in need or know of someone who needs this service but cannot afford it, please take the time to contact us and spread the word to others in need.

Our goal is to give back to our community who has allowed us to serve them and to honor God by reflecting the light of Jesus Christ by serving others in need with our time, talents, and treasure (1 Peter 4:7-11) so that God may be glorified in all things.
