So, how was your week?
Dealing with a combination of cold weather and the extensive loss of power in areas of New Braunfels and Comal County was rough for many people, and all of us here at Thayer hope you and your family made it through this time in safety. We’ve been busy helping out with heating emergencies to make sure our customers stay warm. If you have any need for heating repair in Schertz, TX or the rest of our service area, give us a call—it’s our job to see to your comfort!
Now … let’s talk a bit about heating system reliability. We’re sure that’s probably on your mind.
Can You Trust Your Heater?
When extreme cold weather hits, you must know that when you set the thermostat to provide heat to the house that it will actually work. Because we experience long summers, heating systems are often left to the wayside. The intense cold periods only occur once in a decade or so, although their frequency is increasing. You can’t afford to always put the heating system second in your home, because there are times when it will be the most important part of the entire house.
Ask yourself if your heating system is ready for more intense cold weather. If it broke down during this cold spell, you already have an answer. Our technicians can give you honest assessments about whether repairs will provide a long-term fix and keep the heater running efficiently and reliable for more years, or if it looks as if a replacement is the best choice.
Make sure you know the age of the heating system and its manufacturer’s estimated lifespan. For example, most gas furnaces have a 15 to 20-year age range, while heat pumps have 10 to 15-year range. If the heater is at the upper end of its range, please give serious consideration to replacing it this year at the earliest convenient time.
Have you kept up with regular maintenance for the heater? Please be honest! If you’ve allowed maintenance to slide, maybe only scheduling it every other year, or only a few times, or possibly never, then your heater is almost certainly unreliable. Maintenance is the best defense against a sudden breakdown. Please call us so we can inspect your heater and give you an assessment.
New Heating Installation
If your home doesn’t have a central heating system but relies on wall heaters or even portable space heaters, please consider having a central furnace or heat pump installed. This is a simple job for us if you already have ductwork for the AC. If there’s no ductwork, we can work around that as well with a ductless mini split, which is also a great air conditioning system.
We don’t want you trapped in another freezing cold spell with a heater you can’t trust. If you think you need help, we’re the ones who can deliver it for you!
At Thayer Air Conditioning, your comfort is our #1 priority! We are ready to help with your heating in this stressful time—just give us a call, we’re already on the way.
